About the course
The NVQ Level 2 Carpentry: Wood Occupations course is designed to provide learners with the required knowledge and practical skills necessary to work as a carpenter in the construction industry.
The course covers a range of topics including health and safety, interpreting technical drawings and specifications, using hand and power tools, carrying out first fix flooring and roofing and carrying out second fix operations such as skirting, architraves, doors and windows.
The learning process begins with a comprehensive training needs analysis, after which the assessor helps the learners select the most suitable pathway and units to ensure a smooth learning journey. The assessor maintains regular contact with learners to offer support, advice, and guidance, utilising a variety of methods to cover all criteria. In addition to site visits and observations, our assessors employ techniques like oral and written questioning and professional discussions to assess knowledge elements.
We collaborate closely with employers and learners' managers to gather supporting evidence, such as witness testimonies and product evidence, which ensures that a variety of assessment methods are utilized.
Upon completion of the course, learners will have gained an industry-recognised qualification, allowing them to obtain the CSCS Blue Skilled Worker Card.
